2 Corinthians 6:2 (New International Version)
For he says,
"In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you,
13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
This past year I learned a thing or two (or ten) about the sovereignty of God. While I make my plans (goals), God's will WILL prevail. It's vanity to think I can control this or that, no matter how much I plan and pursue. I bear this in the forefront of my mind as I laid out these measurable goals--some things are achievable by me, some things are influenced by me, all things are subject to His plans.
My goals are broken into 3 categories: home/family, personal, writing. All goals listed are measurable (either they happen or they don't.) First I prayed and wrote them out, then I decided how to take action on them, THEN I decided how to keep track of them to stay accountable. Finally, they all need to be covered in prayer.
HOME/FAMILY:
*Sell home--place ads, keep clean, answer phone (haha, I'm infamous for ignoring the ringer)
*Buy home--frugal living, especially until we move
PERSONAL:
*Start each day with Bible time--get up earlier (ouch, but necessary)
*Lose 10 more pounds--workout 3-4 x per week. Plan meals. Dump ice cream.
*Read less--reduce from 2-3 books per week to 5 per month (odd, I know!)
Writing:
*Write 1600 words, 5 days a week, 49 weeks this year=392,000 words
*Begin agent search. Again. (Yes, for those who didn't know, I parted ways with my agent about a month ago.)
***On Wednesday I will post more specifically about how I arrived at 1600 for a writing goal, include more details, and I will have something for you to try with your own stats***
Now that I've shown you mine, I'd like to hear yours! What are your specific goals this year? What are you doing to make sure you stay accountable?
For those who comment , I will pray for you and what you share, and I ask you to do the same for me :D

Of course I'll pray! =)
My goal this year is to lose the last 5 lbs I'd like to, and more importantly tone up and stay true to regular exercise, whether that be a dvd or power walks/jogs up and down the street. Just something to continually build my endurance and strength. Little Miss is only getting bigger and I want to keep up with her =)
I also am going to read and study through the New Testament this year. I made that my goal instead of the whole Bible again because this way I'll be able to do that AND sporadic other Bible studies without overloading myself.
I'm interested in hearing about your 1600 word formula!!
My goals/resolutions for this year on listed on my blog, Confirm The Work of Our Hands. Though I know I should have written down how I would obtain the results, I didn't put them in the post. So far, I've been working on my writing goal (of 1000 words/day). Haven't tackled today's writing just yet, but that will come. I need more coffee first, lol!
I'm praying for you, Georgiana, and would love for you to pray for me, too.
After two weeks surrounded with family 24/7 I really haven't had a chance to figure out my goals or where God is leading me. I need to pause and get re-connected with Him and His desires of me.
Looking forward to learning about writing stats more.
Things are a bit upside down here at the moment. Goals? I'm just going to hang on and enjoy the ride. Even in the dark, there are some nice surprises.
I'll be praying, girl!
Goals...
I'm going to have to think about this one for a few more days. Things are so bsy here, I want to give my goals good thought before posting them on the blog.
Georgiana,
LOVE your goals MINUS the dump ice cream. Okay, I never buy it but can "cheat" when we go out for a movie (practically never).
Goals?
Let the Spirit keep leading.
Be a better sport during my noontime Trouble games with son.
Do a better job of rising at 5:30-ish and hitting the keyboard.
Blessings, girl!

Betsy, you are so disciplined. If you could bottle it you'd be rich! All that to say, I will pray, but I have no doubt you will reach those goals!
LOL, Shelley--I need more coffee too! It's vital to reaching one's goals. I'll have to hop over and check yours out.
Eileen, I hear ya! 24/7 with family makes it difficult to find the quiet time amidst the fun. Praying you hear clearly from the Lord.
I love your adventerous spirit, CJ! You never know what's up ahead. Praying you have a full and blessed year, even on your wild ride :D
Erica, your goals motivate me. Whenever you post what you're up to, I feel like a sloth, LOL! Praying you get those nailed down soon, because I'm excited to see what they are.
Five-thirty, Patti? That's p.m., right? LOL--no wonder you get so much done! Allowing the Spirit more room to lead is an awesome goal, one I must also incorporate.
You mean we should pray about our goals? YIKES! Better get on that!
My goals are very general. God's been telling me One day at a time and celebrate the SMALL things. And I've been doing great so far.
I made a gmail task list of daily to dos that I simply check off like devotions, exercise, writing, family time, homeschool, straighten something, etc. I don't have too many specifics concerning how long I do these things. The fact that I DO them is a reason for success.
Among other goals is running some kind of race...that post is coming on my blog soon. Maybe you want to join me! ;)
Running a race is a really cool goal, and very specific. I'd love to do that too, but I probably need to drop more lbs so I don't blow out my knees :O
I didn't know gmail had check lists. I'm going to look for mine now.
Most of my goals are writing related, but one goal I have is to read more broadly. I love Christian fiction and I have a tendency to read just that, but I find it so helpful to read outside of my normal scope and I'm challenging myself to do more of that.
I know what you mean, Sharon. I tend to read the same genres inside Christian fiction only. There's much to be learned outside our arena.
