SOMEONE STOP THIS SNOW....

....because it's making me fat.

OK, it's indirectly, but I still blame the weather.

Last week we had record snow in our town. So much, in fact, that the roofs of several buildings collapsed (including a bookstore--wah!), school was cancelled for 4 days, almost all businesses shut down, then this week school was on late schedule twice. As a family we broke two shovels, had to clean off the roof twice, got majorly stuck once, and endured an endless rotation of wet clothes, floor mats, gloves, hats, and snow suits. Of course I'm thankful it wasn't worse for us, like it was for this business and for other families.

54 inches of snow last week.....and more expected today.

Because of all the chaos, our regularly scheduled workouts were pushed aside in favor of unburying ourselves. Precious hubby insists on doing most of the shoveling, which is fine, but without my weights class/step class/core class/treadmill, I'm ballooning. It's just not possible to make it when all our schedules go wonky.

I've never been a fan of the great outdoors, so the problem is, what exactly do I do to keep my svelt figure? (Those of you who've seen me in person, quit laughing!) Averaging one workout per week isn't going to cut it. Yes, I do a few weights at home, but there's no way I'll punish myself in the same manner as that cruel instructor!

How do you stay in shape during the winter? Or, like me, do you put on a few extra pounds?

My Young One would be so jealous! We've only had one snow day. All our storms have been wasted snow either coming during Christmas vacation or a weekend. So send your snow this way! Since she's a senior she gets out in May and doesn't have to make up snow days. As to shape, I'm round and round is a lovely shape. (-;

Round IS a lovely shape--I'm right there too! Mine is a senior also, and for some reason they didn't really build in snow days this year. Oy! We've already have 5 or 6.

YIKES! How much snow in one week????

Oddly enough, the roof on our local Christian bookstore collapsed this week too.

:(

Georgiana,
Actually, I do well with a mixed regimen of yoga (during which I can watch 1 1/2 shows of Law & Order), stationary bike (same deal).
When possible, I add an outside jog to keep Laura sane and to get fresh air. There's also an indoor track at the university but I haven't gone this year.

So far, so good. Probably still a few extra lbs. Oh, well. Keepin' me warm? Right?

I am sooo tired of winter! And all that snow? Ouch. You poor thing!

I have a DVD of 10-minute workouts for those can't-get-out-of-the-house days. And trust me, I only do ONE 10-minute workout, but it keeps me on track.

Good luck!

You know, DVDs and yoga at home are probably a good idea. (I don't do yoga at the club anymore since my run-in with the yogi, LOL! Another blog topic, to be sure.) I used to do the Billy Blanks videos when those were popular, but that was eons ago.

Yes--54 inches! 2nd biggest snowstorm over the week in AZ history. Scary big.

Oh my goodness you guys are getting dumped on! My hubby told me that we're supposed to get snow this week too. In Atlanta! And to think...I left Michigan to escape the snow. Ha!

Yes! Now I can blame the weather for my weight gain. I love it! :) :)

Sharon, if I moved to the south, and then got snowed on....oh boy, watch out!

Hi Elana--I love your take on it! Now why didn't I think of that and just roll with it?
