SENIORITIS...

.....is not just for high school (or college) seniors--it's also for their parents!

Perhaps it's the missing graduation invitations, or the endless runs to and from school, the special events, filling out the financial aide paperwork, or maybe all the college forms flooding our mailbox. Or maybe it's just a general sense of anxiety that I could be old enough to have a high school senior.

Or maybe it's because I can't go to weight lifting or step class for 3 more weeks, can't sell our place, or don't want to come off Spring Break. Perhaps it's because I'm sick. of. snow.

Whatever the cause, I have hit a wall! It's like I'm living life in slow motion--running in the water, if you will--and desperately need a lifeboat.

Does anyone else have a case of senioritis/cabin fever/a chronic case of the Mondays??? What are you doing to get over it? ((For the record, I actually don't have any suggestions today. LOL!))

Oh SOOOOOO true! And it starts well before senior year!
For myself, I usually change something. Anything. Hair color, rearrange furniture, something. It helps, really!

I'm in the same boat! A relief the Young One got into her first and only choice. Sick of FAFSA and wondering when did I become the mother of two adult children?

My sons senior year was my busiest. The school kept calling for this or that and it felt like it was another job entirely. Good luck with the rest of the school year!

Niki, I really like your idea about changing something. So many things are out of my control, it'd be fun to change something that I can. Good suggestion :D

CJ--the FAFSA nearly did me in. Glad to hear Young One got in! That's always a relief, and the beginning of many steps, I'm sure.

T. Anne--it IS another job!!!! An exhausting one, at that. Part mom, part chauffeur, part cheerleader, part fill-this-out-or-you-will-regret-it taskmaster ;)

I'm there! Yesterday I got a letter from the girl's college with summer dates to go and register for classes. I stared at it and slid another increment down the ladder of This Is Really Happening. Gulp.

Just my thoughts, but the high school years are a lot like toddler/preschool years, very busy. There are so many things to do and take care of and teach them before the Next Big Stage in their lives. And so many special times, too, watching them turn into young adults right in front of us.

I like the idea of making some kind of change, something for you.

And believe it not, when it's over, it will seem like it went so fast.

Ha! Ha! Haven't had it lately, but both of my kids sure did (at least it was age appropriate, which I think makes things easier to deal with.)

Love your place.

I wish I had time for a little Spring Break! I could use one about now, but am so immersed in a writing project, it's all I can do to get dinner ready!

P.S. I second the suggestion to change something up. Maybe paint a room, or buy a new piece of furniture? Sounds fun :)

Well, first, congrats on having a senior! And second, I'm hiding at the library right now because I'm soooo tired of either being cooped up in my house or frazzled by running the kids/errands/etc!

Erica, I am glad we can go through this together! It almost doesn't seem real.

Linda, that is a great point! I'd never thought about the correlation in ages to the-next-big-step stage. No wonder I'm worn out between the Senior and the 4 and 5 year olds.

Patti, how on earth did you escape it? LOL, you musta had some powerful prayers going up.

Joanne, how cool to be that immersed in a writing project! Escaping into your own storyworld is the best, isn't it?

Jill, we must have been thinking alike today! We did the library too. It's a great place to escape. If only they'd allow coffee....

Our weather is teasing us!!! After our first day of spring snow storm, the next day warmed up to mid 70s, next day back down to 30s BUT 70 by afternoon. Today...chilly and raining again. But I've noticed I'm more motivated and energetic on the springlike days! So hang in there!

Gina your weather sounds like ours! I'm more energetic in spring too--once we get past the heavy winds of April.

It's so not fun having senioritis. The only thing that works for me is to concentrate on what I can do and achieve something--anything--because sometimes I just need to see a little twinkle of progress. I know it's tough, but hang in there and keep pushing through.

Sharon, sometimes a twinkle of progress (love the phrase) is all it takes to keep chugging along!
