THAT QUIET SPACE IN BETWEEN...

.....projects usually affords me a little time to pursue other interests. Last year between WIPS I learned to crochet. Last summer I focused on preparing to homeschool. This time....

Huh. I dunno.

I sent out my WIP for crit, and until I receive it back to make the changes I'm floating. Aimlessly. Because I had several nuggets of ideas, I assumed I'd be spending the time fleshing them out, but for some reason my nuggets are more like pudding, and I'm more likely to make a mess than plot out something brilliant. Of course, that's where all my ideas start.

What do you do between projects? Do you immediately jump into the next, take time off to pursue something else? Do tell!

I learned to knit and crochet in December. I love it, and I miss it right now as I'm working on my first draft. I'm terrible about adding a lot of things to my life when I'm not writing, and then, when I start writing again, I remember how much time it takes.

I do take a little breather of time, but then I'll thoroughly clean out all my Word files and completely organize them, as well as any journals and paperwork that has accumulated. This way, when I'm ready to work again, I'm not distracted and am able to focus completely.

Between projects, you need time to breathe, time to regenerate. Cleaning is a good task. If you're looking for something to do, I could use some help tiding the basement.

Talking on the phone to friends is a good way to go.... :D

I usually jump right into the next project, because nothing feels quite right nowadays unless I have a book on the stocks.

Blog. Facebook. READ! That's a big one for me because I don't make the time to read while I am writing. Every now and then I will take a day off from my wip to read, but it's generally books on craft. When I am between my own writing projects, I catch up on reading all the great books my friends are writing. I'm trying to just enjoy them and not get all depressed and compare myself to the great author I just read, and I have to admit I AM getting better at this! Enjoy your time!

I have a file with idea's. I like to contribute to them during this time. Once in a great while I'll take a short break but even then I'm thinking. =)

I usually start a new one. When I finish editing this book, I will start to send it out but also start work on a new one. WOrked well last year:)

I used to take a week or two off, but my life is much busier now, and I jump right into the next writing project.

Read like a fiend. Enjoy coffees with friends.

Maybe remove the dust bunnies from the computer and prepare for the next "adventure."

BREATHE. Yah-weh. Yah-weh....

I love the diversity of answers! Also, I must confess that I'm enjoying simply hanging out online...

I think we should give ourselves time to heal from the birthing process! At least a good 40 days!
And I must know, how did you learn to crochet? Did you take a class? Read a book?

Niki, oddly enough, I watched videos online. LOL!! Unusual, but it worked.
