A SEASON TO SERVE

With all the busyness of the past few months, I've come to a startling realization:

It's really not about me. LOL! Maybe I've been slow to get it, but it's finally sinking in. Last year at this time, I was working out nearly every day, writing, and generally keeping up with life. This year, every time I try to plan something a family member is sick, has an appointment, or otherwise needs my help.

And you know what?

I'm not stressed about it the way I used to get. (Well, not as stressed, anyway.) That's because I believe God is allowing this to be my season to serve others and put my own needs on the backburner. Does it kick against my Type-A personality? A bit, but accepting this instead of fighting has brought peace, plus I'm learning to improvise.

Instead of going to the health club every day, I can run across the street and hike the mountain. Here's the view from last Friday. It's nearly one mile up, right before I went down the backside. Great view of the treetops and the city below.

In other news, I signed up for the ACFW conference! This week I shall be arranging the flights and whatnot. So glad the indecision time is over :D

My question to you, have you been through a serving season? How long did it last and what did you learn?

Beautiful view on your hike. I'm learning patience along with the ability to speak in tongues every now and then (-;

I always try to keep a space reserved in the schedule for myself, no matter the circumstances. It keeps my own heart and soul happy, and better able to assist others then. Kudos to you for signing up for the conference, sounds like it'll be a great time!

Ha! This triggered a response in my brain that needs a MARTHA label. I never feel like I serve enough, no matter how much I do or don't do. Definitely something to examine!

Yeah!!!! LOVE your photo, girl!

Can we schedule a coffee at ACFW?
I wanna catch you while your calendar has a few blanks?

I feel like I'm always serving. Somehow, that's the role of a mother. Sometimes I have a good attitude.
Sometimes my attitude needs work. Lately, I think my attitude needs work.

I thought it would get easier as I age. But the challenges just change with my circumstances.

Name a day and time if you want and we'll ink in a coffee!!!

Blessings and LOL

Good for you! The hike looks beautiful. And you're right--we're put on earth for more than just our own reasons. Sometimes we need to serve.

I'm not going until next year. Not ready yet. I'm in the preparation mode.

I know what you mean about busyiness. I don't get stressed unless I see on my file date that it's been more than two weeks since I worked on my novel. Ugh.
