I NEVER MEANT TO GET A JOB-JOB....
.....I just wanted to get out once a week!
But my new plan for escape is turning into more of a job-job than I anticipated! (Not entirely a bad thing, but may explain a little why my word count is suffering, along with a mushrooming laundry pile.)
My job is to manage the book and magazine inventory at three local stores. Originally I was supposed to work 5 hours every Friday, which last week turned into 16 hours. This week I have 3 partial days. I love having the extra cash (who wouldn't?) but we shall see how this goes.
Anything that interferes with homeschooling will not stand for long.
And for the record, my job is actually FUN!
Do you work outside the home, or outside your writing? How many hours?

Your hours sound awesome:) I work a 40hour work week, and I long to spill more time into my stories.
You know my schedule! haha. Three days a week for 8 hours a day, then partial days of work from home on the other two weekdays, plus freelance article and book deadlines and oh yeah - a toddler who wants to do nothing all day but read books and play toys with mama ;)
yay for the new job!!!! You'll figure out how to balance everything and what will work for you and what won't.
I don't work outside the home, but I do have a part-time job as a bookkeeper. The hours fluxtuate. There's more to do at the end of the month, payroll weekends, end of quarter, and esp. end of year than at other times. On average, I'd say I spend about 15 hrs a week on bookkeeping.
I'm not employed. Sometimes I think about a part time job or volunteering on a schedule, but I'm afraid that I'll commit to one thing and end up doing another. Hmmm...
Even though I'm not writing towards a goal, it is something that I love doing and need to do. I write an occasional blog post, write summaries of books I've read in a book journal, a few miscellaneous things, and of course, comments on the posts of my bloggy friends!
Timewise, every day is different for writing. Best wishes to you in fulfilling your writing needs.
It sounds like we all have full schedules one way or another. LOL, no lives of leisure for any of us! Thanks for sharing, ladies :D
God just keeps giving me more things to do. You know what?
He's a wonderful Boss.
As far as getting paid for things outside my writing profession, no.
Except for those eternal blessings!!!
Love you, girl. You go.
(Colossians 4:23-24)
I wondered where you'd been!
I, too, work AND homeschool AND try to write. I'm the copyeditor/proofreader for our local newspaper, as well as a fill-in advertising design person and writing a few articles here and there. It ends up being anywhere from 5-12 hours a week, on average.
The extra income is nice, but so is getting out of my house!
Niki, you sound very similar to me! I also homeschool. I do suppose busy is better than bored ;)
