INVASION!
Could the government possibly get any more intrusive than requiring a digital strip search of its citizens if they want to fly? I mean, c'mon! I'm all for enhanced security, but there must be a better way. It would seem, in my most humble opinion, that the best and brightest minds are not the ones handling this problem. Even thinking about what we'll have to go through in order to board a plane gives me the willies. And it makes me mad. For the foreseeable future I'll be staying home.
There seems to be conflicting information as to whether every single person will eventually be subjected to the indignity of the enhanced security measures, or only random travelers. At this point, most airports don't have the nekked scanners, but probably require the pat downs.
For the sake of the poll, let's assume it's everyone.
Leave your thoughts in the comments section, and vote in the poll in the sidebar. I'm anxious to see where everyone falls on the spectrum.

What a difficult question. Nobody wants to suffer the indignty or the embarrassment of these searches. But the first time security thwarts some idjit with explosives in the waist band of his BVDs from getting on my flight, I'd be very grateful. I think I'd rather have a naked scan than a grope. Fortunately, I don't have enough pennies to fly so I'll be staying home. As Home Security gains experience in dealing with terrorists, better and less invasive measures will be put in place.
CJ, I really really hope you're right! I'm glad I'm not in the position of having to choose right now, either!
I don't know. Maybe if I were planning a flight soon, I'd feel more strongly about it. But I certainly agree with you that they need to come up with something else. As I sit here thinking about it, I feel yuck about the pat down and feel health concerns when I think about the scanner.
I rarely fly, so maybe I'd go with the scanner.
Georgina, I love your inquiring mind! Your spirit!
The Amtrak's totally my preferred transportation. Or my car...BEFORE the CD player broke.
Think I'll just stay here in Normal and write.
Happy Thanksgiving, G.
