GRINCH ALERT!
Decorations....no
Presents bought....no
Egg nog...check!
Christmas cards....no
It looks like I've got plenty more to do in the next two weeks. I try and try to love this season--honestly, I do--but I can't get into it. Do I enjoy being a grinch? NO! But nearly 8 years in retail can do it to anyone. Don't even get me started on carols.
What I want is to celebrate the real reason behind Christmas--the Reason that often gets buried under wrapping paper, parties, and a bottomless pit of materialism. Jesus! At the Christmas play yesterday I was the biggest kid in the audience, relishing every moment with wide eyes and a stupid grin. But the whole thing was about our Lord and it made the time extra special. (Having the kidlets in the play sure helped too!)
I'm sure I'm the only one that has a hard time getting into the season. Or am I.....

Am totally on your page here!
Every year we do less and enjoy things more!!!
The Babe in the Manger really is enough!
Blessings, dear one.

Nope, I'm with ya this year. Even though I have all the gifts bought, still waiting for some to arrive at my front door, it doesn't feel like Christmas.
Maybe after tonight's Advent service I'll start feeling it. After all, next week is the big day. And Jesus did come to save us all!
I don't like spending time in malls or shopping in general. Does that give you a hint? LOL
I try to appreciate the joy that I see in others, and do what I gotta do to give my children a good experience...but I'm with you - I can do without the shopping, and just make rounds, going from one Christmas play to the next.
Too bad I don't have time for that because I have to shop!
Now that I've vented, I will say that I do receive a lot of love at this time, and the challenges give me a feeling of strength once I'm through with them...I think. LOL
I'm not going to lie--I buy at least one box of Hershey's Pot o' Gold for myself just to get through the season!
It sounds like we all want something a little more simple--or chocolatey!
I'm finally starting to get into Christmas. A few days of all out Christmas fun is just about right.
You're not alone. And when you don't want to get caught up in the frenzy of gift buying and giving to the neighbor's second cousin twice removed on the maternal side, you get labeled a grinch. when you don't want to put up all the decorations because no one will come to help clean, put them up, or take them down and put them away, you get labeled a grinch. The Young One gave me a new name. Sign me Ma Humbug. (I actually love this!)
