WAITING WAS THE POINT

Now that I've gotten "the call," it's much easier to look back and say, "What was that all about?" Trust me, the wait was long and excruciating, and I was pretty much starting to think I'd gone off in the weeds. You know, the bunny trail of life that you were never supposed to be on for so many miles.

But now I have clarity. Waiting WAS the point. You see, I've always had an issue with the #1 thing people do NOT want to pray for: patience.

Yes, a book contract took several ingredients whipped together and baked at just the right temperature: God's timing (naturally), skill, and the right book at the right time. (And really, I still have much work to do in the skill area--I know this after the 5 page revision letter!) The biggie, at least for me, was personal readiness, particularly because God wanted me to learn something first. The dreaded P word.

God will use whatever is nearest to our hearts to shape our character and bring us into being who He's called us to be--which has nothing to do with vocation. Where your treasure/heart is, God can work, because that's where He can easily get our attention. Trust me, I haven't arrived in the area of patience, but I have taken this lesson seriously.

What is God using to get your attention? How is He using what is important to you to shape your character?

Only a 5 page revision letter? Woohoo! :)

Retrospective wisdom is always the sharpest, isn't it?

I'm still so stinkin' happy for you! See you in Dallas! :D

Even though I chomped at the bit to be published, I was so thankful for God's timing. He truly knew what I needed and when. Once I surrended my career to HIm, He took the lead and opened doors. I'm forever grateful.

Congratultions on your new contract and welcome to the LI family. I love working for them!

Erica--I'm SOOOO excited for conference. Woot!

Thanks, Lisa! You're right about God's timing, even though it's difficult in the waiting.
